Owner and designer maker dAKOTA rAE dUST
Hello, I'm Bec
dAKOTA rAE dUST is not my actual name, but a pseudonym. A character to slip into, inspired by a longtime love of dressing up, and an escape to a place filled with fluorescent fringe, bold, colourful patterns and vintage prints.
I make jewellery. . . with a sewing machine
ALL THE COLOUR . . . glitter . . . and TASSELS!
I’m a firm believer in colour’s ability to lift mood, and that dressing to please ourselves can be empowering and confidence building.
CREATING STATEMENT PIECES THAT GIVE OTHERS An opportunity TO EXPRESS AND CELEBRATE THEMSELVES IS SOMETHING I FEEL PASSIONATELY ABOUT.
MORE JOYFUL JEWELLERY, MORE SELF LOVE!
MORE IS MORE, right?
This means my larger pieces are often bought to be worn at special occasions such as weddings, Birthdays and festivals. . . but i would like to add, I see absolutely nothing wrong with donning a GIANT pair of statement tassel earrings on the school run/when you pop to the veg shop.
Shake what your EXQUISITE GOOD TASTE gave you!
HAND STITCHED WITH LOVE
I source my secondhand textiles from charity shop sale rails, recycling centres and jumbletrails, and accept unwanted fabric offcuts from generous fellow makers and friends.
WEST COUNTRY born and bred
Bristol is a fierce supporter of independent businesses.
IT’S A GREAT PLACE TO BE SMALL! Our city has a vibrant maker scene and supportive creative community, which I feel very lucky to be a part of.
MARKETS & STOCKISTS
In the meantime, my work can be found in a select few Independent shops around Bristol and my sister in (UN)law's cafe, Jackalope on Gloucester road.
