Dakota Rae Dust X House of Leopards earrings
The idea for these collaborative GIANT jewel earrings came about when I found I could no longer source the giant jewels I originally designed the earrings around and resin artist / fellow jeweller and friend Sophie of House of Leopards suggested she could hand cast some in custom glittery colours instead!
We settled on a beautiful sapphire blue with mermaid glitter flecks for this first batch but plans for the next generation of Giant jewel earrings are already underway.
These giant jewel earrings are part of the JEWELLED collection. This range of colourful statement jewellery features vinyl printed, fabric components inspired by costume jewellery, adorned with colourful, iridescent and glittery gems.
About the luxury giant jewel earrings –
Design benefits
The ornate oval components in these colourful Statement earrings dangle below large circular, scallop edged studs. This construction means the earrings have plenty of movement, optimising the light reflecting off those hand cast, oversize glittery gems.
Cut from secondhand fabric
While the surgical steel studs, vinyl backing and decorative prints are NEW, the vintage floral fabric and backing fabric used in this pair of colourful statement earrings are secondhand. All my secondhand fabrics are machine washed before being repurposed.
Light weight statement laser cut earrings
Despite their mega size these fabric and vinyl earrings are relatively light weight and easy to wear.
Surgical steel studs
These turquoise giant gem earrings fasten with hypoallergenic surgical steel studs and butterfly backs, making them a good choice for anyone with sensitive ears.
Measurements
Each earring measures a mega sized 10.5cm high by 5.5cm wide.
