Samples and Seconds Sale

Good homes . . . and willing earlobes required . . . for a giant box of sample colourways, discontinued designs, ex shop stock and seconds.

It’s January, i’ve filed my tax return and am now free to focus on the more enjoyable activity this month has become synonymous with . . . running a SALE.

Designing, making and selling products inevitably creates some prototypes, experimental pieces and slight seconds. The often quieter months at the start of the year have established themselves as a time that many makers choose to clear out older stock and make way for new designs.

In the past i have relied heavily on markets and in person events to sell my samples, slight seconds and discontinued designs but over the last couple of years I have also run successful Samples and Seconds Sales online.

I am passionate to the point of obsession about limiting the waste created by my business so have spent the last couple of weeks gathering up any experimental shapes, prints and components and turning them into jewellery. If you’re after a serious bargain or something completely unique this is an excellent shopping opportunity.

A selection of slight seconds and one off prototypes that will be available in Saturday’s Sale.

This year, in order to keep things more manageable I will be making TWO sale stock drops to my online shop.

Samples & Seconds Sale – part ONE
8pm Friday 22nd January

I will be taking part in Bristol Markets virtual Samples & Seconds Sale. Be sure to visit their Instagram STORIES on the night to check out the other makers taking part.

Samples & Seconds Sale – part TWO
10am Saturday 27th February

I will be joining Super Seconds Saturday. A virtual market organised by Sophie of Ink&Bear designed to help indie makers and small creative businesses sell their mis-prints, slight seconds, sample colourways and end of line stock. To shop from the wide array of makers taking part in this event head to the Super Seconds Saturday website on the day to peruse the catalogue of traders OR follow the hashtag #SuperSecondSaturday on instagram.

Head to my SALE section from 10am to peruse the pieces I have on offer.

Sophie has grouped the traders by their craft, creating Ceramics, Accessories, Fabric goods, Homeware, kids stuff, Prints, Art, Cards, Pins and Jewellery categories, as well as a Marvellous Makers section, featuring creatives who sell a range of products.

I definitely recommend exploring the businesses taking part before the big day so you can work out where to head first.

If you’re signed up to my email list you will receive a reminder on the day of each market and a link directing you straight to my shop’s freshly filled Sale section.

If you don’t currently receive my monthly (ish) emails but would like to, you can subscribe here

A selection of my best selling, JAZZY PLECTRUM EARRINGS. These are a mix of slight seconds and ex shop stock.

The Statement Jewellery featured in the Sample and Seconds Sale will fall into one of the following categories

Sample Colourways

These pieces are brand new but are in colour combinations or compositions that have never been listed on my website. In some cases they look very similar to a product that you can find for full price on the website.

Imperfections

These pieces are brand new but have slight misalignments in their components or small glue marks. These errors made during construction mean they cannot be sold full price as they aren’t ‘Product Shot Perfect’. They will be priced according to the level of wonkiness/damage.

Ex Shop Stock

These pieces have been returned by a stockist operating on a Sale or return basis. They aren’t damaged, but being made from mainly fabric the signs of spending 6 months + on display in a shop are visible.

Prototypes / Experiments

These pieces were created in the early stages of my design process or feature construction techniques that I no longer use. They may not meet my usual high standards. If you are happy to ignore an imperfect bib necklace back or earring hooks attached by a slightly frayed, hole punched hole instead of a neatly laser cut one then this is a great opportunity to snap up some striking and completely unique statement jewellery.

Discontinued

These pieces are in great condition but no longer part of my product range.

And finallly . . . Please excuse the product photography. In order to make a sale of this kind financially viable I need to keep the product listing process SIMPLE. Any obvious imperfections will be highlighted in the product shots so please scroll through all the provided images before committing to your purchase.

Thank you, and maybe see you at the Sample Sale!
