The fan and frill, droplet shape components in these Statement earrings swing below teardrop shape studs. This construction means the earrings have plenty of movement, optimising the light reflecting off those teardrop shaped jewels.
JEWELLED is a collection of colourful statement jewellery featuring recycled textiles and iridescent and colourful gems. The layered, vinyl printed fabric components were inspired by costume jewellery.
Secondhand Fabric
While the vinyl backing and decorative prints are new ALL the fabrics used in this pair of earrings are secondhand. The fronts of the earrings have been cut from a synthetic navy blue fabric with an abstract white scratchy pattern. The backs have been cut from a blue batik printed cotton and the small frill components that sit below each jewel from the peacock green silky skirt of a damaged vintage party dress. All secondhand fabrics are machine washed before being repurposed.
About the Statement jewel earrings –
Despite their size, being fabric these earrings are relatively light weight and easy to wear – Please note the jewels are glass so weigh slightly more than the acrylic gems used in previous laser cut jewellery collections.
These dangly earrings fasten with surgical steel studs and butterfly backs, making them a good choice for anyone with sensitive ears.
Each earring measures roughly 8cm high by 5.5cm wide .
